I attended the Great Ideas conference, put on by ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership, in Orlando, Florida. The good news is, it was warm and sunny. The bad news is, I was sick as a dog! I suppose if you’re going to have a nasty cold, better to be at a hotel in a warm climate, but still, there’s just no good spin on being sick.
But through the haze of dayquil, I did manage to learn a thing or two. My favorite quote from the meeting was relayed by keynote speaker Frans Johanssen, author of The Medici Effect. He was quoting the easily quotable Winston Churchill, who said:
If you find yourself going through hell…
…keep going!
I really love that one. It applies in so many different contexts. It’s amazing how often we give up at the low point and end up wallowing.
