I am quoted in the May issue of Associations Now. Newton Holt wrote the cover story about how to manage the reactions to your decisions. When he called to interview me a while back, he more specifically was asking me about how you deliver bad news and deal with backlash. It’s a nice article that makes explicit those components of leadership that are less frequently discussed: the little things, the way you react, how you make decisions, even making decisions about WHO should be making the decisions. We often look at organizations or leaders and make conclusions about whether the leaders did a good job, but we rarely bring up the "little things," like the subtle ways in which they prepared constituencies for a decision or the difference transparency can make. I’m glad Newton wrote the article and shed some light on those aspects of leadership.
